The Nitty Gritty about the Daily Impact
As a Bremerton Foodline major donor, myself, I get to see the day to day impact of every dollar I contribute. Bremerton Foodline is changing lives with one cart of groceries and one smile at a time. Year to date we provided 17,058 shopping experiences and on average the value of just one shopping experience equates to $100 of groceries. In 2024 Bremerton Foodline distributed over $1.7M in groceries to our most vulnerable community members.
Our groceries come from local stores, Food Lifeline, Northwest Harvest, theFOODproject, community food drives, and from financial contributions. In 2024 Bremerton Foodline spent over $80,000 purchasing food for our food bank. This doubles what we spent in 2023. The need in our community is growing and the number of households we are serving has increased by 90% in just two years.
Food insecurity is a serious issue in Bremerton. When people are food insecure they are worried about where their next meal will come from, they skip meals so that their children can eat, cupboards are lean, and there are not enough healthy items to sustain a well-balanced meal. Many of the households we serve utilize Bremerton Foodline as their #1 staple for getting food into their homes or into their backpacks.
