For more than 45 years, Bremerton Foodline has served individuals and families across Kitsap and North Mason counties by meeting people where they are and connecting them with resources that support long-term stability and well-being. What began as a little basement food bank has grown into a thriving 12,000-square-foot grocery-store-style food bank, distribution hub, and resource center dedicated to improving food access and strengthening community resilience.

Founded to Meet a Community Need
Bremerton Foodline was founded through a collaborative effort of local churches, social service agencies, and dedicated community members to provide emergency food assistance and referral services for neighbors facing hardship. Operated entirely by volunteers, the organization was built on a shared commitment to ensuring no one in the community went hungry. Lasting Impact What began as a grassroots, volunteer-led effort has grown into one of Kitsap County's leading hunger relief organizations. While our programs and partnerships have expanded significantly over the years, our mission remains the same: providing food, hope, and compassionate support to every neighbor in need.
A Permanent Home for Growth
Bremerton Foodline reached a pivotal milestone with the purchase of its nearly 12,000-square-foot facility on 12th Street, complete with loading docks. This investment significantly expanded the organization's capacity and established the infrastructure needed to meet the growing needs of the community. Lasting Impact The expanded facility transformed Bremerton Foodline from a traditional food pantry into a regional food redistribution hub. With increased storage, improved logistics, and stronger community partnerships, the organization has been able to distribute more nutritious food, support partner agencies, and serve thousands of individuals and families across Kitsap County with greater efficiency, dignity, and care.
USDA Commodities Distributor
Bremerton Foodline became an official USDA Commodities distributor, marking a significant milestone in our organization's growth. This designation greatly expanded our capacity to provide nutritious food and strengthened our ability to meet the increasing needs of individuals and families across our region. Lasting Impact Today, our partnership with the USDA allows Bremerton Foodline to distribute a reliable supply of high-quality food, increasing food security while enhancing our ability to serve more neighbors with consistency, efficiency, and dignity. This milestone continues to play a vital role in ensuring our community has access to nutritious food when it is needed most.
Blossom Program
Bremerton Foodline launched the Blossom Program in response to a growing gap in social service resources available to families in our community. Recognizing that many households were struggling to afford essential hygiene and infant care items that are not covered by traditional assistance programs, the Blossom Program was created to help meet these critical needs. Ongoing Impact Since its inception, the Blossom Program has provided families with access to infant formula, diapers, baby wipes, and menstrual hygiene products, helping reduce financial stress and ensuring children and caregivers have access to basic necessities. The program continues to serve as an important safety net, supporting the health, dignity, and well-being of families while filling a vital gap in community services.
A New Era of Choice & Dignity
Bremerton Foodline transformed the client experience by transitioning from a pre-packed food distribution model to a grocery store–style, self-select shopping experience. This change empowered individuals and families to choose the foods that best fit their needs, preferences, and dietary requirements helping to restore dignity and to create a more personalized experience. At the same time, we expanded access by moving from once-a-month shopping to once-a-week visits, recognizing that families needed more consistent support to keep food on the table throughout the month. This shift marked a significant step toward providing food assistance that is both compassionate and responsive to our community's needs.
Building for the Future
Bremerton Foodline completed a transformational renovation to create a more welcoming, accessible, and dignified experience for every neighbor we serve. The project included ADA-accessible improvements, a grocery store–style shopping model that empowers client choice, and dedicated spaces for community partners to provide on-site supportive services. Lasting Impact Today, our renovated facility serves as a modern community hub where individuals and families can access nutritious food, confidential case management, and wraparound resources in one welcoming location. By removing barriers, increasing accessibility, and creating spaces that foster dignity and connection, Bremerton Foodline is better equipped to meet the evolving needs of our community for years to come.
Mail Program
Bremerton Foodline launched its Mail Program to provide clients experiencing housing instability or transition with a safe, reliable mailing address. The program ensures individuals can securely receive personal mail, essential documents, and important communications while maintaining privacy and stability. Ongoing Impact Today, the Mail Program continues to provide a dependable point of contact for clients, helping them access vital correspondence, maintain important records, and navigate employment, healthcare, financial, and housing opportunities with greater confidence and security.
The FOOD Project Launch
Bremerton Foodline launched theFOODproject to build a neighborhood-based network of donors providing consistent, high-need food and essential items. Working collaboratively with the Kitsap County Food Bank Coalition, the program distributes a bi-monthly wishlist so donations directly reflect the most urgent community needs. Growing Community Impact By empowering Neighborhood Coordinators to organize six collection drives each year, theFOODproject creates a reliable source of targeted donations that helps keep food bank shelves stocked, reduces waste, and strengthens hunger relief efforts throughout Kitsap and Mason counties. As the program grows, it continues to build stronger community connections while increasing access to nutritious food and essential household items.
KidVantage Partnership
Bremerton Foodline partnered with KidVantage to provide essential resources for postpartum mothers and children from birth through 5 years, 11 months. Through this partnership, families gain access to critical items such as car seats, cribs and beds, clothing, formula, baby food, educational materials, and other necessities that support healthy child development. Ongoing Impact Today, the KidVantage partnership helps reduce financial barriers for families by ensuring children have access to safe, developmentally appropriate essentials during their earliest years. By connecting caregivers with these vital resources, the program promotes healthier outcomes and provides families with the support they need to thrive.
SWAP Social Woker Assistance Program
Bremerton Foodline launched the SWAP (Social Worker Assistance Program) in partnership with Virginia Mason Franciscan Health to ensure children and families facing emergency situations leave the hospital with the essential items needed for a safe and healthy transition home. Working alongside care teams throughout the Virginia Mason Franciscan Health system, the program provides critical resources when they are needed most. Ongoing Impact Today, the SWAP Program supports families across the Virginia Mason Franciscan Health network by providing necessities such as car seats, safe sleep equipment, clothing, diapers, formula, and other essential care items. By removing barriers to safe discharge, the program helps improve health outcomes and gives families the support they need during times of crisis.
Expanding Access to Health Care
In January 2025, Bremerton Foodline partnered with Peninsula Community Health Services to bring medical and dental care directly to our clients. By offering these essential services onsite, we removed barriers such as transportation and unfamiliar systems, making it easier for individuals and families to access the care they need. This partnership reflects our commitment to addressing more than food insecurity by connecting clients with vital health resources in a trusted, familiar, and convenient location, helping them build healthier, more stable lives.
Groceries On the Go
Bremerton Foodline launched Groceries on the Go to ensure homebound neighbors have reliable access to fresh, nutritious groceries. Designed for older adults and qualifying individuals with disabilities or chronic conditions, the program provides personalized grocery deliveries to those who are unable to travel to the food pantry due to mobility or transportation barriers. Ongoing Impact Today, Groceries on the Go delivers hand-selected groceries every other week, tailored to each client's dietary preferences and allergies. In partnership with Kitsap Harvest, Meals on Wheels, and dedicated volunteers, the program helps homebound neighbors maintain their independence, improve their health, and access nutritious food with dignity, all from the comfort of their own homes.

Today, Bremerton Foodline serves as a trusted hub for hunger relief and family support across Kitsap County. With 15 innovative programs and leadership of the Bremerton Nourishing Network, we bring nonprofits, healthcare providers, schools, and community partners together to create coordinated solutions that address food insecurity and strengthen our community. 2025 Community Impact In 2025, Bremerton Foodline served 3,855 unduplicated households, reaching 11,358 unduplicated individuals through 24,770 household visits. These milestones reflect our continued commitment to ensuring every neighbor has reliable access to nutritious food, essential resources, and the support they need not only to meet today's challenges, but to thrive for the future.
